Founder of the Melanated Therapist

Jameela Muhammad, MSW, LSWAIC

I’m a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinician under supervision and a proud graduate of the University of Washington School of Social Work. With over a decade of experience in social work, mental health, and therapeutic services, I bring a blend of clinical training, real-world experience, and cultural understanding to the work I do.

My practice was created with one purpose: to provide a healing space for those who carry the weight of generational trauma, societal pressures, and daily stress especially Black and Brown individuals who too often feel unseen or unheard in traditional therapy spaces. I’m here to walk with you through the process of healing, not just to “fix” what’s broken, but to help you reconnect with your strength, your voice, and your truth.

I specialize in supporting adolescents and adults navigating trauma, life transitions, identity, and relationship challenges. My approach is person-centered and holistic, and I incorporate a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I tailor every session to meet your individual needs and move at your pace—whether that means working on practical coping tools, unpacking old patterns, or simply creating space for you to breathe.

I truly believe that therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical it can be a real, grounded conversation between two people, rooted in trust, empathy, and shared humanity. My role is to support you as you break cycles, reclaim your story, and build a life that feels more aligned and empowered—on your terms.

You don’t have to do this alone. Healing is possible and it starts with showing up. I’m honored to hold that space with you.

“You need so much more than mental health or ‘well-being’ in this era of discrimination, invisibility, and psychological warfare. You need an impermeable web of protection for your mind.”
