The Emphasis on Friendships: Why Women's Friendships Matter

Never underestimate the healing power of a good girlfriend.

Supportive female friendships can reduce feelings of isolation, improve confidence, and increase overall well-being. Some of my closest friends have carried me through some of the hardest seasons of my life — helping me as a single mom, encouraging me through school, work, and moments where I wanted to give up.

Friendships among women create spaces for emotional support, accountability, empowerment, and authenticity. Sometimes the right friends become part of the reason we survive and grow.

Women need community too.

Raising a teenager is scary, but we have to embrace to hard work.

Raising teenagers is such a challenge. I know, I’ve got one. However, it is up to us as their parents to guide them through the difficulties that arise and the larger-than-life feelings that happen. Our teenagers are somewhere in that fun in-between stage, kind of like the Brittany Spears song “not a girl, not yet a woman.” For them they are not a child but not yet an adult, although they may feel like they are.
